The most interesting vintages of the seventies for wine collectors are:
Bordeaux: 1970 - A very good year. Abundant quantity.
Deep developed colour. A powerful bouquet with aromas of leather and cedar wood. A very fresh attack in the mouth. Smooth in the mouth with tannin clearly present. Good sinewy finish with refreshing acidity. May still be kept for several years.
Italy: 1970 - A very good year. A wine with great perfume, body and size, silky, with a superb balance, exceptional structure.
Bordeaux: 1971 - A very good year. Small quantity.
An intense, developed colour. Good imposing aromas of floral delicacy. Very gentle attack in the mouth. Pleasantly silky with a discreet tender finish. To be drunk now.
Italy: 1971 - A very good year. Well balanced in the mouth with melting, elegant tannins. A wonderfully deep, concentrated wine. Superb balance and structure, exceptionally silky, intense perfume, great elegance.
Bordeaux: 1975 - A very good year. Average quantity.
Intense, rather well developed colour. Rich heady aromas of spices and leather. A very firm attack in the mouth developing into a tight-knit structure with a certain austerity. To be drunk now.
Italy: 1975 - A very good year. A wine with gentle perfume, well balanced body and size, agreeable, elegant.
Bordeaux: 1978 - A very good year. Average quantity.
A deep well-developed colour. Discreet bouquet with aromas of preserves. Firm attack in the mouth developing into a tight-knit structure with a certain austerity. A wonderfully aromatic finish. To be drunk now.
Italy: 1978 - A very good year. A powerful wine, strong structure, intrigue, superb balance, longevity and rich aromas.
Italy: 1979 - A very good year. A wine with a superb balance, a wine of great perfume, full-bodied and size, elegant.
